AUCTION - This event is our major fundraiser which raises funds to support art, music and science residency programs. A live auction, mystery bags, class baskets, and raffle offer fun and unique items. Volunteers are needed for donating auction and raffle items, planning, set-up, clean-up, soliciting donations, and working at the auction.  The auction will be held in the spring but volunteers are needed throughout the year.
 
BOX TOPS FOR EDUCATION - Thousands of dollars can be raised through the Box Tops for Education Fundraiser.  Children are encouraged to collect and submit Box Tops.  We will be running several classroom contests and providing individual incentives throughout the year.  Volunteers are needed beginning in October to count Box Tops on the first Tuesday of the month in the school cafeteria.

CAREER DAY - Professionals come from all walks of life to meet with students to talk about their exciting careers. Many of the professionals come from our parent community. This is a favorite among students! Volunteers are needed to contact participants, set-up, clean up and prepare food for the luncheon. This year's 25th Annual Career Day will be held on May 15.

ELECTION DAY BAKE SALE - Election Day Bake Sale Committee is in charge of recruiting volunteers to bake or donate homemade baked goods and to find volunteers to sell during election day at the school.  The Bake Sale will be on Election Day, November 5.

FIELD DAYS - In June, all classes will have a “Field Day” which is a day arranged with the gym teachers and the Field Day Committee. Parents are invited to attend those field days and will also be asked to provide additional snacks or drinks to the grade/class.

FIFTH GRADE COMMITTEE - The 5th Grade Committee assists with special 5th grade activities and graduation throughout the school year.

HALLOWEEN PARTY - P.S. 144’s Halloween Party is legendary! Generally held on the Saturday prior to Halloween, it offers games, food, music, dancing, a costume contest, and a special Halloween show and Haunted House. The first floor of the school is transformed and decorated for this special occasion. As one of our biggest events of the year, volunteers are needed for decorating, clean up, baking, running games, supervision and security.  The Halloween Party will be on October 26 this year.

HOLIDAY BOUTIQUE - We offer the children a variety of holiday gifts to purchase for their friends and family, at kid's prices! Volunteers are needed for set-up, clean up and assisting the children with purchases.  The Holiday Boutique happens before the winter break.

INTERNATIONAL NIGHT - This event celebrates the various cultures with food, arts and fun & educational activities. Volunteers are needed to represent their country of origin or simply their favorite country.  This year's International Night is scheduled for March 8.

NOMINATING
- The Nominating Committee runs the elections for the P.A. board and School Leadership Team (SLT) in June. Volunteers are needed for preparing and collecting ballots, distributing profiles of the candidates and tallying votes.

PLANT SALE - This committee runs a plant and gift sale in the days leading up to Mother's Day. We offer the children, parents and staff a variety of seasonal plants and gifts to purchase. Volunteers are needed for set-up, clean up and assisting with purchases.  

PIE SALE - The week before Thanksgiving the P.A. is sending out order forms for different pies to arrive before the Thanksgiving weekend (on Wednesday).

SCHOOL SUPPLY KITS - This committee coordinates the orders and delivery of the school supply kits. The pre-packaged kits are tailored to the teachers' requests.

SCRIP GIFT CARDS - Scrips is a gift card program where parents can buy gift cards to certain shops. Depending on the shop, the school receives a certain % of the gift card value. A great way to get holiday gifts or to use them to do your own holiday shopping

STAFF APPRECIATION - In June, the P.A. hosts a luncheon for all teachers, administrators and staff who work so hard all year round. Volunteers are needed for set-up, clean up and preparing food and desserts.
 
YARD SALE - The Yard Sale committee sells space to rent on the PS 144 school yard to sell gently used items twice a year.  The first yard sale will be on October 5, 2013.
