Haiti Relief Effort
January 13, 2010
Dear Families,
I received the following information from Chancellor Klein this
afternoon:
Many of our school communities are asking how they can help those in
need. Mayor Bloomberg outlined the City's response to the crisis
earlier today. Click here to read his statement:
http://www.nyc.gov:80/portal/site/nycgov/menuitem.c0935b9a57bb4ef3daf2f1c701c789a0/index.jsp?pageID=mayor_press_release&catID=1194&doc_name=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.nyc.gov%2Fhtml%2Fom%2Fhtml%2F2010a%2Fpr015-10.html&cc=unused1978&rc=1194&ndi=1
While food and supplies are needed in Haiti, there is no
infrastructure currently in place to distribute them to those in
need. Therefore, the Mayor has suggested that the best way to help
is by contributing money. Donations can be made to the Mayor's Fund
to Advance New York, which will then distribute them to reputable
relief organizations, including the Red Cross, working in Haiti. To
learn how to donate, visit
www.nyc.gov/fund , where you can donate online or by phone.
There is also an address where you can send checks. Or you can call
311.
All the best,
