Dear Families of P.S. 144:

We're pleased to share some exciting news about a new fundraising program for our school. It's called "scrip", and it's the fundraising program that worksheet you Shop!!

Scrip means "substitute money" - in other words, scrip is certificates from national and local retailers. They're the same gift certificates that you buy at the store. Many popular retailers participate in our scrip program including Toys R Us, Stop and Shop, The Gap, Exxon, Amazon.com, and many, many others.

So how does this work? It's simple -- participating retailers agree to give back a percentage of the gift certificates we buy. School families buy the certificates for face value, redeem them for face value, and our P.A. gets the percentage back from the retailer.

The beauty of scrip is that you put your regular household shopping dollars to work. You earn money for our school! without spending a single additional penny. Just spend your regular shopping dollars with scrip at the Stores that participate. And scrip can be used for just about anything including food, clothing, movies, gasoline, and even dining out.

Check out our order form for a listing of the participating retailers. We'd like our school families and their friends to be able to take part in scripts for their holiday gift giving needs. Please complete the form and return to school by December 13, 2010. We will be delivering the gift cards you order home with your child(ren) on December 17, 2010. If you prefer to pick up your gift cards in-person, please check the appropriate box to let us know. We will have your order ready for-you during school hours.

Please call us with any questions you have.

Sincerely,
